CURRENT SHOW - From on high!

Coming down! This year the Banbury Detached Project, Banbury Youth Centre and Banbury East have teamed up with Advance to create a summer programme for some young people in Banbury.

Among the amazing experiences they had was doing a tandem parachute leap from two and half miles up in the sky! Or, "Freefall for 30 seconds at over 120mph and then glide underneath a parachute canopy over beautiful Oxfordshire – all done whilst attached to an expert Instructor." as Skydive Weston's website says!

But what was it like?

"It was a beautiful day with clear skies; we had a long wait, as it was a busy afternoon at the airfield. When our time came we put on the equipment and the instructors went through the training techniques again, reminding us of what to expect. We got on board the minibus that took us to the plane, and began a fifteen-minute plane trip up two and a half miles. When we reached the height we stood in the plane strapped to our instructors, the rear of the plane opened and we made our way to the back, looking out into open space, down on to fields like a patchwork quilt. My instructor jumped headfirst, 30 seconds can be a long time when you are freefalling towards earth. When the shute opened it was amazingly quiet, and the views were incredible. Everyone really enjoyed the experience and would have gone up again in a flash if they had the chance."
